To explain the basic principles of oral care. The CNA will learn to enhance the quality of life for residents through best oral care practices.
   
 Objectives:
State five challenges in providing good oral health care to residents of long-term care facilities.
List three predisposing variables that are related to tooth and gum disease.
Recognize and understand how periodontal disease directly relates to your physical health.
Understand the importance of brushing teeth and gums and techniques to use to help provide residents of long-term care facilities with good oral health care.
Recognize the important role the certified nursing assistant has in education and the prevention of more serious diseases related to poor oral health.
