 Purpose:
To increase the knowledge and awareness of Alzheimer's disease for assisted living and long-term care staff. The number of Americans with Alzheimer's disease will continue to grow in the next few years. Families as well as facility staff will need to be equipped with the facts about this devastating disease as well as the tools to provide quality, loving care.
   
 Objectives:
State at least two statistics related to Alzheimer's disease in the United States, and describe the corresponding impact on our society.
Identify the ten warning signs of Alzheimer's disease.
Describe each of the seven states of Alzheimer's disease.
List at least two current drugs available to slow the progress of Alzheimer's disease.
Name at least one nutritional intervention for all stages of Alzheimer's disease.
Describe how Alzheimer's disease is diagnosed.
Name at least two things that may trigger wandering behavior in a person with Alzheimer's disease, and describe techniques to prevent wandering or getting lost.
